Ottawa Storage Space in the COVID-19 Era

With the reality of COVID-19 upon us, and the realities of this global pandemic boding major changes for now and for the future, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about storage facilities.

We want to assure you that we at Acceptable Storage in Ottawa are taking the necessary precautions to promote and maintain a safe, healthy customer experience at our storage facilities.

Ottawa Storage Facilities Still Open; Limited Office Hours

social distancing 2 metersOur Ottawa self-storage facilities remain open for customer access.

We are following all Government of Canada, Province of Ontario and City of Ottawa COVID-19 safety protocol.

For the health and wellbeing of our staff, however, we have limited our office hours to Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – 10am to 1pm. No walk-ins, please. We are here answering emails and phone calls during this time.

Should you have inquiries regarding our storage facilities and services, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, either by emailing info@dev.acceptablestorage.com or calling 613.822.7666.

With regard to the Acceptable Storage facilities and premises, there are some important things we would like to emphasize during this challenging time for everyone.

Following All COVID-19 Protocol at Acceptable Storage in Ottawa

These trying times require cooperation and sacrifice on the part of everyone. We are heartened to see the effort that our community has been making, staying home, practicing proper hygiene and enabling our first responders and front line heroes to do their part in flattening the curve.

Hopefully the most stringent of our social distancing measures won’t have to be in place for very long. We all understand, however, that the Coronavirus is a deadly and highly contagious pandemic, and we’re all doing what we can in sacrificing now for a better future.

We ask that you, our valued clientele, keep following physical distancing and careful COVID-19 measures when it comes to accessing our storage facilities.

We Kindly Ask for Your Cooperation

We have set forth the following guidelines for our clientele at Acceptable Storage in Ottawa. Our goal is to maintain a clean, safe and healthy storage facility – an essential service in Ontario – for our clientele to use.

  • Please maintain physical distancing at our Ottawa storage premises. This includes a zone of physical separation of at least 2 metres at all times; more when possible.
  • Please minimize / refrain from touching the various components and facilities. Wearing gloves and masks is highly advised and much appreciated. While we are doing our best to keep the facilities as clean as possible, especially with repeated and enhanced cleaning of high-touch areas, your cooperation is greatly appreciated in mitigating the spread of this highly infectious virus.
  • self storage lockerIf you have been diagnosed positive with COVID-19 and have not recovered to the point of being non-contagious, we respectfully ask that you stay home and continue to get well.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 but have not been diagnosed or tested, we want you to get better soon! Once you are well and non-contagious, we of course will welcome you back to our Ottawa storage facilities.
  • If you are in a high-risk or vulnerable group, we encourage you to follow Canada Public Health and Ottawa Public Health protocol in staying home and minimizing your potential exposure.
  • Please continue to follow guidelines as set forth by the various Canadian, Ontario and Ottawa public health officials. At the time of writing, a Stay at Home order has been in place with an Ontario emergency having been declared and extended into May. Storage falls under essential services in Ontario at this time. While we do not anticipate that this will change, we encourage you to stay tuned to updates from the province of Ontario.
  • * Please follow health and safety protocol with regard to the items that you place into storage. If you believe that an item may have been contaminated by proximity to someone who coughed, sneezed, touched etc. – we ask that you please avoid bringing such items to our Ottawa storage facilities. The best thing to do is to leave the item in place and not touch it at all. Place a tarp over it if you have one, and/or put on a sign or post-it note as a reminder to you and your family that this item not be touched. While it is not clear how long the coronavirus can remain on various surfaces, studies have shown that it can last up to several days depending on the surface and circumstances.

If you meet and follow these criteria, we invite you to continue using our self storage facilities at Acceptable Storage in Ottawa.

When & How to Use Acceptable Storage Facilities

Should you not meet the criteria and are unable to use our facilities – and need to place items* into storage or remove items from storage – we encourage you to have a friend or family member undertake this task for you.

Please also bear in mind that travel restrictions are in place on some levels, and travel in general is being discouraged in Ottawa and around Ontario during the Stay at Home period. If you have an urgent need for self-storage pick-up or drop-off, it should fall under Essential Services.

If you can delay your trip to Acceptable Storage until such time as the Stay at Home measures are lifted, it would be greatly appreciated. Minimizing trips on the road means helping to lessen the potential for risk and burden to the emergency services.

We look forward to being able to serve you better when the Stay at Home measures are eased. We all realize that our times have quickly changed, and the realities of physical distancing and enhanced cleaning & hygiene will be with us for the foreseeable future.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Acceptable Storage in Ottawa.
